It’s just one of those truths about life on a college campus–students will complain about anything and everything. Prices of soft drinks rise a nickel? It’s the end of the world as they know it, which is perhaps a pretty good reflection of how divorced from reality they are. This was an example of Mr. Mittens really finding his voice as the social commentator of the strip.
This strip marked the first time one of the characters cursed. Of course, the word said is nothing too dramatic, but the newspaper was pretty harsh with censoring, so it’s sort of amazing it even got through. Honestly, however, we tried to keep language to the absolute minimum, so it retained some impact when used.
